The Civil Society Network wants an inquiry into Aldo Cutajar’s employment with government. Cutajar served as Malta’s consul general for Shanghai, and today he and his wife were brought to court and charged with money laundering.
The Civil Society Network have requested an inquiry, as according to the same network Aldo Cutajar had been sent to prison on charges of misappropriation of public funds and had been ordered by the court not to be allowed to work again with the government.
It said that Mario Cutajar and Minister Carmelo Abela should be suspended or should step aside voluntarily until the inquiry establishes that they have done nothing wrong.
Repubblika also called for the resignation of Mario Cutajar saying that he was the head of the Public Service which allowed his brother, who in 2005 was given a perpetual interdiction by the Court, to be sent to work at the Embassy in China in 2016 and two years later was appointed consul in Shanghai.
